We are slowly nearing the next Call of Duty release, and all eyes are glued on Activision to deliver the goods with Modern Warfare 4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is not going to be released on last-gen consoles in a series-first move. It was made very clear that Modern Warfare 4 will only be released on current-gen consoles and PC, but a new pre-order notice might be sending mixed signals to fans looking to hop into this new era of Call of Duty.
Mixed Signals
In what appears to be either a glitch in the system or a massive oversight by Activision, if you own Black Ops 2 on the PlayStation 4, you can now see an ad to pre-order Modern Warfare 4. At first glance, this may seem fairly routine to advertise your next game on your platform, but again, Modern Warfare 4 is NOT releasing on the PlayStation 4. To give credit where credit is due, the ad only advertises the PlayStation 5 version of the game, but this could be an easy pitfall for people to fall into if they’re not keen on reading the fine print.
Buy Low and Sell High
Few things are certain in life, such as death, taxes, and of course, a new Call of Duty release. But this year’s release is an interesting one in many different ways. First off, the game will not be available on last-gen consoles, which immediately alienates a portion of the player base. And given how expensive consoles have gotten lately, some may not be ready to make the jump financially. Lastly, the series has been trending in a bad direction with fans due to some rather over-the-top inclusions in the game’s multiplayer and straying away from what made Call of Duty great in the first place.
