The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t released to the public until June, but that hasn’t stopped one speedrunner from beating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in a very short time with the new console at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Tokyo. A YouTuber who goes by Ikaboze pulled off the feat recently and posted about it on his channel. We will be explaining his description through Google translating the YouTube video below, so there may be some errors in that process.
How was Breath of the Wild beaten at Nintendo Switch 2 Experience Tokyo?
So Ikaboze got the chance to play Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it wasn’t like he was given free reign and an unlimited amount of time to do it. The first five minutes of his demo were handled in portable mode, where it seems he got to play the opening tutorial section in The Great Plateau. From there, he was given 10 minutes in the open world with a random save.
When he got to that open world section, he immediately stripped off all of Link’s armor, but it’s not like this Link was just starting out with nothing. He had 16 hearts, quite a bit of stamina, four fairies, all of the champion abilities, and various random weapons and shields.
After using Revali’s Gale to get up to Calamity Ganon, the battle begins. Since this Link has all of the champion abilities, this save also knocks Ganon’s health down to half with the divine beasts. Using a mixture of perfect dodges, shield parries, and Urbosa’s Fury, Ikaboze makes short work of Ganon both in his weird spider form and the final pig form in the field. His video above explains that when the credits started, he had about three minutes left, so he beat the game with time to spare. He even took that time to test out a glitch that he couldn’t get to work in the speedrun, so it’s interesting to think how fast he would have had it done if he got it to work properly.
