The launch date for Borderlands 4 is officially being changed! Those who are excited about the upcoming looter-shooter should pay special attention, as Randy Pitchford has announced a change in the release date for the game in a post that has since been taken down. There will also be a State of Play for Borderlands 4 to unveil more information about the game, the characters, and the new planet.
Randy Pitchford accidentally confirms Borderlands 4 launch date change early
Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford released a post on his X account earlier today to talk about the launch date for Borderlands 4. Since then, Pitchford removed the post and replaced it with a smaller one, saying, “Oops – time zones… Reposting momentarily.” Of course, this being the internet, many have already seen the video that was uploaded in the post, and many have also already captured it. One such user who managed to get their hands on the video is none other than Wario64.
The video is approximately two minutes long and consists of Randy Pitchford walking around the Gearbox Software studio. He states in the video that “the team has been working very hard, and everything’s going great.” Shortly after, Pitchford shared the news that the launch date for Borderlands 4 is changing, but instead of being moved back, it is being moved forward to September 12, 2025.

This is big news for anyone eager to get their hands on the upcoming looter shooter. Pitchford also shared the news that there will be a PlayStation State of Play “imminently” that will reveal more information about the game. While it wasn’t stated what will be revealed about the game, we assume that we will finally get to learn who the Vault Hunters are, what abilities they have, and get more information about The Timekeeper. Keep an eye out for more information about the game coming soon.
