There is no denying that a lot is riding on the execution of Borderlands 4. With the major flop that was the movie and the previous entry in the mainline series being heavily criticized, many wonder if Borderlands 4 will even be good. With that being said, many fans are letting their ideas out on various platforms in hopes that Gearbox will listen to the criticism and implement some new features in the next mainline title in the franchise. One idea we think is worth mentioning is the addition of an adventure mode in Borderlands 4. What exactly would this do to help the next game in the series? A fan on Reddit has the answer.
MrZenCool posted recently posted on Reddit to share what they think Borderlands 4 could use. The idea they mentioned is the addition of an adventure mode similar to games such as Diablo 3. In the post, the user stated, “One thing that has always bugged me about Borderlands is having to run the campaign with all of its unskippable dialogue and back and forth. Diablo 3 had something called Adventure Mode that unlocked after you ran through the campaign. You still started at level 1, but instead of the campaign, you’d run bounties in the various zones, or Rifts, which were randomly generated dungeons with a time limit and boss at the end. It made for a great way to run pure gameplay while skipping the weak story.”
This idea is pretty intriguing because it focuses on something that bugged players about Borderlands 3; the continuous back-and-forth and unskippable dialogue. When a character is talking, you are forced to sit there and listen to them before you can continue with the mission. Most of the time, you need to do this to complete the mission. This is fine for a first playthrough but players typically like to run through the campaign with each Vault Hunter. With four brand-new Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4, you will need to do a lot of waiting if you plan on running through the campaign four times.
That is where adventure mode comes in, it would allow players to essentially skip the campaign and focus more on side content. Gearbox could even add additional missions that are only unlocked after your first playthrough. Many agree with the basic concept of the idea with plenty of users adding that they would “like the ability to skip dialogue.” Even if the dialogue is unskippable, many say they would like the ability to “walk away and get back to killing.”
