The Dead by Daylight August 2024 update patch notes are out, and quite a bit is being altered. From perk cooldowns to scratch marks and prestige, many areas of the game are being changed. While none of these notes give away game-changing feelings, everyone will be affected in some way by this update.

If you want to read the exact numbers that are changing and see what the devs have to say, you can view their Reddit post. Let’s get into it.

Dead by Daylight August 2024 patch notes

Killer changes

Three Killers have been tweaked in the latest update.

  • The Dredge will now be faster in many scenarios, and it will also be a little quieter.
  • The Doctor’s Static Blast attack now recharges faster if no Survivors are nearby. He also moves faster while using it.
  • The Nemesis can now reach Mutation level 2 by tentacle striking a Survivor three times instead of four. The Hindered effect he gives is also extended.

Perk changes

Eight Survivor perks have been adjusted.

  • Blast Mine activates faster while repairing generators.
  • Wiretap activates faster while repairing generators.
  • Chemical Trap activates faster while repairing generators and expires faster.
  • Mirrored Illusion activates faster while repairing generators and expires faster.
  • Dance With Me’s cooldown has been cut in half.
  • Deception’s cooldown has been cut in half.
  • Diversion activates faster while in Killer’s terror radius without being chased.
  • Flashbang activates faster while repairing generators.

Prestige, hook stages, and scratch mark changes

  • Prestige levels will now no longer be shown in the pre-game lobby. This is to combat the Killer from seeing a Survivor bring in a character at Prestige 100 and then leave the lobby. Your prestige level will still be shown at the end of the game. This is a good change, in our opinion, considering prestige doesn’t really mean much outside of someone dumping a lot of Bloodpoints into a character.
  • Hook stages have been increased by 10 seconds. This change is made to allow Survivors more time to repair generators if a Killer is camping a hooked teammate.
  • Scratch marks left behind by Survivors have been readjusted on certain maps with red color schemes to make them more visible for the Killer.

Midwich Elementary School map changes

Finally, Midwich has removed the breakable walls in the bathrooms. This will allow Survivors more of a chance to get upstairs or downstairs without needing to use the stairways. The exit gates and hallways have also had more objects placed in them for Survivors to hide behind.
