The Dead by Daylight community is well-known for voicing their displeasure when there is an element to the game they don’t like. Whether you are playing Killer or Survivor, you can bet there is something the other side is doing that will inconvenience you in some way. Lately, it seems that Survivors are particularly focused on “slugging” in Dead by Daylight.
Slugging in Dead by Daylight is when the Killer knocks down a Survivor into the Dying state and then leaves them there. When this happens, the Survivor can only slowly crawl along the ground, leaving a big trail of blood behind (like a slug), until they get healed enough to stand up or bleed out and die. While motionless, they can spend time recovering a large portion to stand up, but unless they have a perk that lets them get up on their own, they are at the mercy of their teammates helping them up.
How do you fix slugging in Dead by Daylight?
A big portion of the responses to slugging in Dead by Daylight in the thread above seems to be focused on how long it takes for a player to bleed out. If someone is downed and never gets up, they die after four minutes. Spending that long slowly crawling along the ground can feel like an eternity. The question is, what is the fix for this issue?
If the bleedout timer is reduced in half, would Survivors feel better about dying faster? Would it really be fair to the Killer if they downed someone and then decided to chase one of their teammates, and then that downed player got up on their own? From a strategic point of view, if the Killer thinks they can’t put them on the hook before they wiggle free of their grasp, it makes sense to leave them on the ground.
We are sure that Behaviour Interactive has had conversations about slugging in Dead by Daylight. We’re not sure anything could be done to make everyone happy, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.
