The latest Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero trailer focuses on and reveals a swath of new playable characters, all originating from the classic Saiyan and Namek sagas. Headlining the way are five playable versions of Frieza, the Saibaman, Nail, and Captain Ginyu. Further cementing the “everyone is here” feeling of this game, Chiaotzu, Zarbon, Super Zarbon, Cui, Dodoria, Recoome, and Guldo also had gameplay shown off.

This trailer was as much a story trailer as it was a way to reveal more playable characters. We got to see some iconic battles from Dragon Ball history, including Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon on Raditz, the Saibaman and Nappa decimating Yamcha and Tien, Goku and Vegeta’s first fight, and the moment Goku first went Super Saiyan against Frieza.

As it stands, we are currently at 115 revealed playable characters, with 49 spots still left to be shown off for the game’s launch. With this trailer focusing on the Saiyan and Namek sagas, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the next one be geared towards the Cell and Buu sagas, and then that might be followed with more Dragon Ball Super additions. Who knows, we may also start seeing some movie representatives or, hopefully, some original Dragon Ball characters.

Even though we have played dozens of games going through the Saiyan and Namek storylines, we can’t help but be excited to do it again. This Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero trailer further cements how good everything looks, and long-time fans of the Tenkaichi games are growing more excited to play the game come October.

We are not great fighting game enthusiasts, but the more we see of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the more we get excited. It looks like a total love letter to the series, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
