If you were hoping to get some rune farming in before the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC launches, you might be out of luck. With the latest update for Elden Ring, FromSoftware decided to get rid of one of the best rune farms in the game. The aptly named “falling rune glitch” in Elden Ring allows you to get millions of runes with little effort. Rather, it did let you get millions of runes before FromSoft decided to remove it from the game. Now if you attempt the rune farm, Torrent will just fall forever for no reason at all.

Before the latest update, you could travel to Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace in Siofra River, run up the hill, do some parkour with Torrent, and jump off a cliff while swinging your weapon. Doing this would get you millions of runes in very little time thanks to a glitch in the game’s coding. Unfortunately, this is no more. Doing this now will result in you falling for a very long time or simply dying.

The latest Elden Ring patch labeled patch 1.12, adjusts many features in the game from weapon arts to damage percentages. It even adds some new features to the game such as five additional hairstyles that you can access from the mirror, Rennala’s rebirth system, or when making a new character. FromSoft also added new summoning pool features and support for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

One thing that is very noticeable about the patch notes, however, is that mention of the falling rune glitch is absent, meaning FromSoft secretly patched it out without telling anyone. From our attempts, it seems as though FromSoft made it so you can no longer reach the cliff to jump off, though we did see someone do the glitch and fail to get any runes. If you want to get runes before the launch of the DLC, you will need to look elsewhere. Just don’t forget to go defeat Mohg before the launch as well.
