A Fallout 76 map expansion has officially been confirmed by Bethesda in a new post. We already knew that the Atlantic City expansion that was recently released would be coming in two parts. While it is exciting to see that the second part is coming in the spring of 2024, the better news is that the map will officially increase in size. A map expansion is something players have been asking for and the announcement couldn’t have come at a better time.
With players winding down from the first half of the Atlantic City expansion, they will be able to turn their heads to the future. Unlike the post-apocalyptic hellscape that Bethesda predicts, it seems to be looking bright. Bright for new content that is. So what is this new Fallout 76 map expansion?
Everything we know about the Fallout 76 map expansion
As stated in the news post, the Fallout 76 map will be increasing in size. Bethesda has decided to send players southward to the “wooded heartland of Shenandoah.” Really, the company should be saying that we are getting sent east since Shenandoah National Park is in northern Virginia but we will forgive them for that. This is far from what fans were hoping the map expansion would be since many have been hoping for an expansion into Pennsylvania to cover the bottom of the state around Fayette County.

Along with this bit of information, we were given a new promo image. This image appears to show a swirling mass of clouds releasing energy into a building deep in the national park. Bethesda also stated that there will be new factions, a new questline, and even more rewards.
Since we are familiar with the area, here are a few places we believe will be in this expansion:
- Skyline Drive
- Dark Hollow Falls
- Rose River Falls
- Old Rag Hiking Trail
- Luray Caverns
- McAfee Knob
Each of these iconic locations could very well appear in the expansion. In fact, the large rock on the right side of the image appears to be McAfee Knob or Humpback Rocks. What are you most excited about for the upcoming expansion?
