Studio Wildcard just unleashed a gigantic update for ARK: Survival Ascended. This includes the introduction of the shapeshifting Enigmassaur, which will be the final creature included in Season 1 ARK: Fantastic Tames, along with the free, community-voted TLC overhaul to the Giganotosaurus. Lastly, the game will undergo a major upgrade both performance-wise and visually with the Unreal Engine 5.8 update.

New Tames Enter the Fold

ARK: Fantastic Tames Season 1 is now complete with the introduction of the Enigmasaur. The beast is a shapeshifter who doesn’t just mimic the look of other creatures but actually adopts their moveset and traversal methods. The Enigmasaur can easily fool members of the same species while retaining certain abilities from previous transformations.

The mighty Giganotosaurus is the next creature to get a community-voted TLC update, which gives it renewed ferocity and a revamped taming challenge. Taming the Giga will now require more than tranquilizers and a safe vantage point. Now survivors must prove their worth to this mighty beast. Once tamed, the Giga will prove to be a formidable ally as it uses its new foot-stomping ability, tail-slamming attack, and the ability to share its fighting fury with nearby allies.

An Unreal Update

The Unreal Engine 5.8 update serves as a major technical upgrade to ARK: Survival Ascended. It will introduce new rendering technologies that are specifically designed to improve performance without sacrificing rich environments. Lastly, Nanite Voxels will be used to deliver more efficient and realistic-looking foliage rendering, along with Lumen Lite, which provides a more performant approach to dynamic lighting for low-end PC’s.

Looking to the Future

These new implementations will give the  ARK community plenty to do within the next month. The Enigmasaur specifically stands out as a tame that could completely change the hierarchy of ARK as we know it due to it’s incredible shape shifting abilities. But all eyes are on ARK: Dragontopia, which will be dropping on December 10th as it looks to introduce the extraordinary new map called Skyworld. This ecosystem will put survivors to the test as dragons rule the skies above.
