A long time ago, a Helldivers 2 player pitched the idea of a modular exosuit stratagem. At the time, many were interested in this idea as it would allow them to customize a mech with whatever weapons they would like. This is also something that we would love to see get added to the game. Think about it; you would be able to have an exosuit with two flamethrowers or maybe a quasar cannon and an energy shield. The possibilities would be grand. Of course, this would also take a lot of time to implement.
Recently, Helldivers won the Emancipator exosuit stratagem. This exosuit comes armed with two autocannons – something the player base was excited to get their hands on. Since it was obtained, the reception of the stratagem has been quite mixed with some players loving the new suit and others thinking it needs a major rework. One thing this exosuit succeeded at is reigniting the talk around exosuit designs in Helldivers 2. For starters, many have stated that they want a larger variety of suits.
A post from Emord_Nillap on Reddit brought back the conversation of a modular exosuit. The post consists of various exosuit designs showing the various arms and what they would look like when attached. With over 7,000 upvotes, this suggestion has gathered the interested of many members of the community.
As one user pointed out, Arrowhead “confirmed the limitation of one vehicle per person.” Baskinator confirmed this in a comment while also stating that they “want to uncap” this. The same user also stated that “Making the exosuit modular would be a great way to circumvent this.” In other words, it would be a good way to allow players to have different exosuit designs while keeping the limit the same. This would help the devs by allowing them to forgo all the necessary coding to allow more vehicles per person. We aren’t sure which would be the easier task but we could possibly see both in the future. At the very least, they did hint at more vehicles being added in the future.
