Helldivers 2 has had an interesting relationship with its emotes. At first, they were simply used for jest but, thanks to a bug, they quickly became a means of self-defense. Players could use emotes to save themselves from being killed by fall damage. Now, there is an even greater bug that affects the kick emote. When performed correctly on your ship, you can use said emote to knock your friends prone and even send them into orbit. Well, Helldivers 2 CCO Pilestedt confirmed that this emote bug is getting fixed but you will still be able to kick on the ship.
Helldivers 2 CEO Jorjani and CCO Pilestedt have been quite talkative lately in both the Discord server and on X. Recently, Jorjani confirmed that there is potential for purchasable DLC but said, “It needs to be a win with both the players, not just our wallets.” Pilestedt also let players know that increasing the player size is “not impossible.”
Helldivers 2 CCO confirms kick emote will still work on ships after upcoming patch
The kick emote has been causing a lot of mayhem since it was added to the game. Players have been having a blast kicking enemies and their allies around the maps. Of course, since emotes work on the ship, players can also use the kick emote while waiting for a mission to start. This means that you can kick stuff around your ship… allies included.
While talking to fans on X, Pilestedt recently responded to a player’s post that says, “Please don’t fix the kicking emote working in the ship. I love kicking my friends into orbit.” To this, Pilestedt stated, “Hey; we won’t. We need to fix so that it doesn’t soft lock the game, or fix so that players can’t be yeeted out of the ship.”

This confirms that there will be a fix for the bug in the future but Pilestedt did not say when the patch will be available. At the very least, we know that the patch shouldn’t affect your ability to kick your friends around the ship, you just won’t be able to send them into orbit and have to restart the game because of it.
