There are two exosuits in Helldivers 2; the Patriot and the Emancipator. Both of these mechs are loved by many fans of the game and some were extremely excited when a glitch allowed them to use both stratagems in a game. Unfortunately, this glitch was patched and ever since, players have not been able to take more than one mech when diving into a mission. When asked if this would ever be reversed, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani absolutely confirmed that players would never be able to use both mechs at once legitimately.
Recently, players discovered that they can use a glitch in Helldivers 2 to mitigate fall damage. This is done by using an emote while falling to avoid getting hurt as badly. Shams Jorjani saw this and went to his X page to ask the devs to keep this glitch in the game as a feature. One fan replied to this post asking about the mechs saying, “Can you please let us use both mechs? It would be cool to have a mech loadout.”
To this message, Jorjani jokingly replied with “Do you want a mech nerf? Because this is how you get a mech nerf.” Of course, Jorjani later clarified what he meant. Another user commented on the post saying, “Hold up. Your devs said mechs were not allowed doubles because of tech limitations. Now you’re saying we can’t get them because it’s considered OP? I thought you guys wanted us to enjoy the game.”
Jorjani took this opportunity to clarify the real reason mechs can’t be doubled up by saying, “I was joking but that didn’t seem so clear to folks. If we’ve said it was due to tech limitations before then that is the reason. I’m not up to speed on all the technical details.” It is clear that we will never get more than one of the mechs at a time in Helldivers 2 but it’s a nice dream to have.
