Helldivers 2 is constantly evolving thanks to consistent patches, hotfixes, and updates from the devs at Arrowhead Game Studios. Thanks to this, players can sometimes discover hidden mechanics that they didn’t know about before and some that might not have existed before. One such mechanic that players are now realizing is in Helldivers 2 is the ability to mitigate fall damage by emoting. You can now save your life with a well-timed emote and hit the ground with style in the process.
Helldivers 2 players recently agreed on a change to Stims that has been needed for a while. This change will allow players to use Stims to replenish their stamina while at full health. Normally, you can’t use a Stim at full health. While you wait for this change to take effect in the future, you can save yourself some health by using the game’s emote system. A prime example of the effect of this mechanic can be seen in Chunke-Funke-Monke’s Reddit post.
The video in the post shows the user getting launched into the air. While airborne, they save themselves by using one of the game’s emotes. When they hit the ground, they only lost about half of their health. If they hadn’t used the emote, the fall would have definitely killed them. Many responded to the post by saying that the core strength required to maintain that pose midair is astounding.
This phenomenon has been spreading like wildfire with this user’s post being one of the most popular. Many posts have gone up on Reddit sharing the newly discovered feature in Helldivers 2. Memes are also spreading showing various dives with Helldivers smacking the ground in funny ways. This post from user 21471824718 shows the damage mitigation in action.
In the post, the user uses various Helldivers 2 emotes to lessen his fall damage. He does this with medium and high falls, trying out the different emotes in the process. Even during a fall that is guaranteed death, emoting helps them survive with around half of their health. It just shows you should always be flashing those emotes while falling to your death. It just might save your life.
