The newest Overwatch 2 hero, Juno, has been revealed and will be playable this weekend. Originally teased with concept art and her working name, Space Ranger, at last year’s BlizzCon, Juno is a new Support being added full-time in Season 12 on August 20.
Juno is the game’s first Martian hero, joining Winston and Wrecking Ball, who came from the Moon, as outer spatial residents. During her recent tease, we speculated that she could be Jiayi, a college friend of Mei. Now that we have confirmation that her name is Juno, we would rather buy into the recent theory that Juno is Jiayi’s daughter or has some other relationship there.
Juno is played by Xanthe Huynh, who has credits in anime and games like Scarlet Nexus, Pokémon, Starfield, and plenty more. We recommend checking out her impressive credits page.
Juno Overwatch 2 weapon, abilities, and ultimate

While we don’t have the full details of Juno’s kit yet, we did get a look at her in action. Her space pistol is a burst weapon called the Mediblaster and might be similar to Ana’s rifle in that it heals teammates while harming enemies, although it might just have a different firing mode. She can use her jetpack ability Glide Boost to get and maintain height. Her glide seems to be a little slower than Echo’s but doesn’t descend as fast. It should also be noted that she used hover boots to walk around, so you probably won’t hear her coming, like with Zenyatta and Sigma.
Her primary ability is called Pulsar Torpedoes, which lock-on to both enemies and teammates, firing off to harm the former while healing the latter. There is no limit to how many it can lock on to, though the projectiles do seem to be rather slow. The secondary ability Hyper Ring will speed up all teammates when they walk through it. From the trailer, we expect this to speed people up faster than Lucio’s Speed Boost, but maybe not for as long duration.
Finally, her ultimate is Orbital Ray. She calls in a powerful satellite blast onto the field, which may affect enemies, but we couldn’t tell from the trailer. It does, however, seem to amplify the damage all nearby teammates do significantly.
We will get more details on Juno tomorrow when she goes live in Overwatch 2. We love seeing a hero moving around in a space suit and using technology that hasn’t been seen in the world yet. Hopefully, she feels great and provides some very interesting lore.
