NetEase has been trying new things with Marvel Rivals to help keep it standing out from other hero shooters. While the team-up mechanic is the main difference between Rivals and other games in the genre, more game modes would help further the divide. Unfortunately, NetEase has not yet seen success with new game modes as Clone Rumble has not been the biggest hit. Instead, players have asked the team not to make Clone Rumble a permanent game mode.
Recently, players have complained about the number of DPS characters in Marvel Rivals and have admitted that they want to see more Vanguard options. Smurfing has been another major issue in Marvel Rivals that NetEase has yet to handle.
Marvel Rivals players find Clone Rumble boring
In a recent post on the Marvel Rivals SubReddit, user tik115 stated that they “hope Clone Rumble as a game mode doesn’t come back.” The reason for this is that they think the game mode is “colossally boring.” They went on to say that players seem to only pick the same characters and they are tired of playing those characters “for the millionth time.”
Multiple users stated that they were stuck in games where everyone played as Jeff and found it to be “miserable.” Many others stated that they got sick of the game mode after playing multiple rounds as the same character. Luckily, there are some solutions that fans have offered for if NetEase decides that they want to bring the game mode back in a future season.
One user stated, “The character selection should be randomized by the game, not chosen by the players.” They likened this to the issue that map voting often has where players will choose the same map over and over again if given the opportunity. Another user stated “It’s unnecessary to have two rounds,” and that “one is enough.” Many agreed that if the game mode were to be limited to a single round it would be a lot more engaging because they wouldn’t be stuck in horrible situations where everyone is the same character for multiple rounds. One thing is certain; a lot more players hate Jeff now.
