Tanks are getting some hefty buffs for the Overwatch 2 Season 10 midseason patch. After a lot of community discussion about the role feeling the worst to play for a while, the development team is changing some numbers to make these brutes harder for the enemy team to take advantage of.
Tank changes in Overwatch 2 Season 10 midseason patch
Game Director Aaron Keller listed the new changes in the latest Director’s Take blog. In the future, Tanks will take a 25% reduction in damage from critical shots. Their knockback resistance is also being increased from 30 to 50%, so Lucios will have a very difficult time booping them off maps.
Armor is also being massively buffed in the Overwatch 2 Season 10 midseason patch, which will make most Tanks tougher to bring down. Armor will reduce five damage per projectile with up to a 50% maximum. While this won’t affect Mauga, Junker Queen, Sigma, Zarya, or Roadhog, other Tanks like Reinhardt, Orisa, and D.Va will be much tougher to kill while they have their armor up. This will also help Brigitte a lot as well.
The passive healing buff that was added in recent seasons is also being changed to better accommodate heroes with larger health pools. Instead of 20 health gained per second across the board, every hero will get 10+5% of their overall health recovered a second. Tanks, in general, will be healing much quicker from the passive if they don’t have a Support with them.
Junker Queen and Wrecking Ball will also be getting some nice buffs to their kits, as well as other heroes, but on a grander scale, Tanks are about to be able to withstand a lot more damage from the enemy team. For a long time, some Tank players have complained that they feel they get melted right away in engagements, so the headshot and knockback reductions should definitely make them feel a lot more in control in fights.
