A YouTube channel called 64 Bits has imagined what Palworld would have looked like if it were released on the Nintendo DS in 2006. Of course, with a jump to older hardware, the Palworld demake is probably much closer to a Pokémon game here than it is in the regular survival game you can play now. You can watch the video below.
As expected on the DS, this Palworld demake is mostly all 2D, though some 3D models make their way into the cutscenes. The game is played from a top-down perspective, but we see a lot of the same gameplay aspects from the regular game, like fighting Pals, building things in your base, and even a gliding section that looks like it would be a good transition scene.
In the description for the video, 64 Bits said that their DS version of Palworld drew a lot of inspiration from basically every DS Pokémon title, including games outside of the mainline titles. Even The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Chibi Robo Park Patrol had some influence.
The Palworld demake on DS is something that we would be very interested in giving a try. It looks to have fewer survival elements to it, which honestly, is something we could personally do a little less with in the regular game. Just building a base to defend against raids and then venturing out to catch Pals would be a really fun experience on a handheld console.
If this kind of content interests you, we highly recommend subscribing to 64 Bits and checking out their other demake videos. They’ve done others like Kirby and the Forgotten Land on NES, Stray on Game Boy, and God of War (2018) on the first PlayStation.
