Stellar Blade reviews have officially been released and most of them are good. A majority of gaming outlets gave the game scores of 8/10. Not bad for a game that is new to the action RPG genre and one that has some souls-like mechanics. There has been a lot of hype leading up to the game’s release and while most reviews share a positive outlook for the game, fans have issues with a select few that seem to focus on one thing; looks.
User Hozasaru on Reddit posted links to the reviews on the Stellar Blade Reddit page earlier. Another user by the name of PapaNaj also posted a review segment. One thing that fans seem to agree on is that anyone who focused on EVE’s looks during their review shouldn’t be trusted.
There was controversy leading up to the release of the reviews with some gaming outlets complaining about the game being released uncensored in all regions. Sites that have since pointed out EVE’s looks are now the target of hate. One user commented with various quotes from different outlets such as TheSixthAxis, IGN, and more saying, “This is what the mixed reviews have to say. These people are hacks. Never trust them.” The quotes in question said things like, “Its scantily clad heroine is not very interesting” and “Stellar Blade is a pretty enjoyable game to swing your hairband sword at, so long as you don’t mind the obvious sexualization.”
Another user commented saying, “From what I’ve been checking, the ones with the lowest scores are pretty much just complaining because of sexualization.” One more user called out IGN saying, “Not surprised at the L take from IGN but whatever. Sounds like gameplay is solid and, clearly, the visual appeal is there.” There is no doubt going to be more controversy over the game as it continues to get praised by fans but we will need to see where this goes.
