The wait for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been long, but luckily the release date is quickly approaching. To help make this final push more bearable, the community has taken to Twitter to celebrate their favorite memories from the long-running series with a Tears of the Kingdom Countdown.

Going under the hashtag #TotKCountdown, the below image is a layout of various notable games in the series with the intention to have people share their favorite memories, opinions, and even fan creations surrounding that specific game on its given day. This movement has been so popular that the hashtag has been trending.

Today’s game is A Link to the Past, a true classic some people claim is the best in the series. At the very least, it is a great memory for many, with some pointing to its dance commercial as one of the first thoughts that come to mind when it is brought up.

While the first two Zelda games are memorable for being the franchise’s beginning points, A Link to the Past truly found the formula for success. The process of exploring Hyrule and getting the needed items to progress the adventure was something they carried over into games for decades moving forward. It is unquestionably one of the most important and influential games ever made.

ALttP was not only my first Zelda, but also my first video game ever and my forever favorite. Nothing else comes close to the magic of pulling the Master Sword, teleporting to the Dark World, or slaying Ganon in the Pyramid of Power. pic.twitter.com/aDMw9PfcWw

Needless to say, countless people have fond memories from the Zelda series, unsurprising for a series so “legendary.” While we do the Tears of the Kingdom Countdown, we highly recommend jumping into the trend yourself and sharing your favorite moments from the many great games we have played over the years. If you are looking forward strictly to just the new game, we recommend checking out some great fan-made pixel art of Ganondorf.
