Right off the heels of the popular Dungeons and Drag Queens one-shot, the famed TTRPG show Dimension 20 is back. On July 26, a mere week after their last season ended, Dropout has a trailer for their next adventure, Mentopolis. Mentopolis is set in an Inside Out style world inside one man’s head — Elias Hodge. However, the twist is that the story takes inspiration from classic detective noir, turning this story of the mind into a thrilling mystery. This adventure will be led by game master Brennan Lee Mulligan, Dimension 20’s main storyteller and host.
Mentopolis’ players include one of Dimension 20’s core cast members — fans know them as “the Intrepid Heroes” — Siobhan Thompson. Thompson has starred in Fantasy High, The Unseeping City, A Crown of Candy, A Starstruck Odyssey, and Neverafter. The season will also include repeat Dimension 20 actors like Mike Trapp (Um, Actually) and Danielle Radford (Screen Junkies, Fandom Entertainment), previously playing in Escape from the Bloodkeep and Misfits and Magic, respectively.
Meanwhile, the latter half of the cast is made up of Dimension 20 newcomers like Alex Song-Xia (writer for Rick and Morty and Little Demon, actor in High Maintenance), Freddie Wong (Dungeons and Daddies), and the famous, internet-beloved Hank Green (SciShow, Crash Course, Vlogbrothers).
This cast of characters will all play important functions of Elias Hodge’s brain as well as classic detective noir roles. Mentopolis’ characters include:
Anastasia Tension — A hard-hitting reporter and the embodiment of tension/stress. Played by Danielle Radford.
Conrad Schintz — A sweet young newsie and the manifestation of conscience. Played by Alex Song-Xia.
Dan Fucks — A speakeasy owner and the embodiment of pleasure/libido. Last name? Spelled however you want. Played by Freddie Wong.
Imelda Pulse — A wealthy, mysterious dame and the manifestation of impulsivity. Played by Siobhan Thompson.
Hunch Curio — A greedy detective and the embodiment of curiosity/suspicion. Played by Mike Trapp.
“The Fix”— A startling large hitman and the manifestation of hyperfixation. Played by Hank Green.
Mentopolis will begin streaming on Dropout on August 9th and will be Dimension 20’s 19th season. Though many fans have been waiting with bated breath for a possible third season of Fantasy High, this all-star cast in a fun mystery setting should be another thrilling entry in the Dimension 20 series. And considering one of Ally Beardsley’s recent Tiktoks, there might be an “Intrepid Heroes” story in the pipeline. Given the classic Fantasy High football “Hoot, Growl” on the wall, season 20 could mean we finally see the “Bad Kids” return to Spyre. So, enjoy the heck out of Mentopolis while we wait to know more.
