The Pokemon fandom has been ravenous for more access to previous generations since the release of FireRed and LeafGreen earlier this year. This desire to access these games stems from the fact that it is pretty difficult to play these titles via official means. But thanks to new rumors, the retro Pokemon catalog may be expanding as soon as next week.
It’s About Time
Recently, a Pokemon fan account called Pokesoku claimed that Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 8th. For now, this is the only source that is openly pinning an exact release date. And for what it’s worth, last August, Spheshal Nick noted that there were plans in place to release Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald in late September or early October.
Pokesoku’s initial claim only mentions Ruby and Sapphire, which could’ve been done on purpose. This is because during the initial release of Ruby and Sapphire, Emerald came out a few years later. So The Pokemon Company may be saving this title for a later date. But it is also worth noting that no official word or acknowledgement has come from the Pokemon Company about these games, so take it all with a Graveler-sized grain of salt.
Too Good to be True?
Next week looks to at least involve some Pokemon news, as Pokemon Company informed users that Pokemon Home compatibility will be coming to FireRed and LeafGreen on October 7th. This date has added further fuel to this rumor simply because it suspiciously lines up with the rumored Ruby and Sapphire release date. As for the Pokemon Company, it would be wise to continue the steady rollout of retro mainline Pokemon games to hold fans over until Pokemon Winds and Waves releases next year.
