If you are a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series, you have probably been eager for any news about the upcoming sequel to the series, titled Kingdom Hearts 4. The first reveal trailer for the game went live over four years ago in 2022. To nobody’s surprise, since the development time between Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3 was 14 years, little has been shown about the game, and a release date has not been mentioned.
This could potentially change in August, as the D23 Expo that Disney holds every year will include some major announcements. One of the showcases will include a “deep dive into Kingdom Hearts,” which has fans eager to see if more information about Kingdom Hearts 4 will be revealed.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Could Potentially Be Shown at D23
Kingdom Hearts 4 news has been fairly scarce in the four years since the game was announced. We have received a couple of trailers showcasing mostly remixes of the same stuff, and the only real news was that it would also be on the Nintendo Switch 2 – an announcement that was made earlier this year.
However, this could change in August, as the D23 Expo that Disney holds each year is set to take place from August 14 to August 16. On the news page for the D23 Expo, Disney unveiled that one of the segments of the showcase will be a “deep dive into Kingdom Hearts” to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary. The news page says, “Join us for a journey through light and darkness as we commemorate 25 years of KINGDOM HEARTS. Discover how this saga united Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix, with insights from the creative minds, character voices, and more behind the magic.”
While this does not confirm that Kingdom Hearts 4 will make an appearance, the potential for more information is there. The creators of the series could unveil bits of information about the upcoming title, but it is unlikely that a new trailer will be shown. Despite this, you shouldn’t rule out the possibility.
