Anyone who has ever got into a tabletop game like Dungeons & Dragons will remember their first set of dice. As fondly as you may feel about that first set, as time goes on and the more you play, a temptation tickles the back of your head: “What if I got more dice?”
Inevitably, there comes a time when players become dice goblins and amass a large quantity of dice. You either know that person or are them. Regardless of which stage in your dice collecting life you’re currently in, if you’re seeking to build your dice hoard, then the Mystery Dice Packs from MysteryDiceGoblins makes the transition easy.
The shop features dozens of items for your Pathfinder game (check out our team play on YouTube) and their Mystery Dice Packs are a highlight. If you’re looking for a quick gift idea or want to surprise yourself, the packs contain a full set of seven dice. However, just like a roll of the dice, you don’t know what exactly you’ll get until the pack arrives.
Whimsical delight
When my three packs arrived I was completely taken off guard. Sure, I rolled pretty high on my Perception check when scanning the Etsy shop, but seeing the packs in person exceeded my expectations. The packaging is like something out of a Dr. Suess book. It’s whimsical and zany and the bags themselves are durable and built for travel. Once opened, the bags can be reused to store your ever growing collection of dice.
As for the dice within, well, they’re of equal design and quality. When I rolled the dice out of the bags, each one appeared flawlessly created. Each is handmade and had no scratches or marks on them. It’s an impressive feat for the small team out of the U.K.
With how far away the shop is from my location, I expected the dice to take their time getting to me. Shipping was rapid which is a great mark for MysteryDiceGoblins.Though, I can’t say this will be the case for everyone.
Affordable Intrigue
For those who have already amassed a collection of several sets of dice, you know they can be pretty expensive depending on if you go for a standard set all the way up to heavy duty metal. In most instances you can expect to pay somewhere between $10 to $20 for seven dice. One Mystery Dice Pack containing a full set of seven will cost you less than $10.
Part of that cost is of course going to be the random element of the dice. You don’t know what color or design you’re going to get but they certainly don’t feel poorly designed. In testing their weight and balance, each felt equitable and fair with their rolls and outcomes. However, they do feel quite light for a set of dice.
Randomly generated
You’re able to pick and choose if you want a pack of just D20s, a single D20, or a full set. They’ve also got a mystery box if you are in need of a lot of dice.
You don’t know what you’re going to get with the Mystery Dice Pack, but finding out is part of the fun. Afterall, that’s what you do when rolling a dice at the table. You don’t know what the end result will be, but finding out is always thrilling.
