Sometimes we forget that, as gamers, we hold power when we come together. This has never been more apparent than with the change announced by Paradox Interactive amid backlash about the announcement of day-one DLC for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Developer The Chinese Room, announced that two of the game’s clans – the Lasombra and Toreador – would be locked behind a day-one paywall, but thanks to community backlash, the developer appears to be reversing direction on this.
The DLC was originally announced for $21.99 and was called the Shadow and Silk Add-on Pack. Included in the pack were two of the game’s clans, the Lasombra and Toreador. Needless to say, this angered fans, who then made their voice known online.
Paradox Interactive Announces Change to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 DLC
Announced on Discord, Paradox community developer DebbieElla, announced a change to the DLC of the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. In the post, the developer stated, “We are listening to your feedback about the Lasombra and Toreador clan access, and we’re making adjustments ahead of launch to reflect this. We will share more information about what this means as soon as possible.”

This post was originally spotted by ResetEra, and has since made its way around the internet. While the post does not specifically state that the clans will be added to the game free of charge, it does show that the developer is willing to listen to the community. The clans could very well still be locked behind a day-one paywall, but it seems unlikely based on the Discord post.
The developer originally stated that the choice to add the “highly sought after” clans as day-one DLC was a “business” decision. They also told IGN that “adding fan-requested content comes at a cost.” It appears that Paradox and The Chinese Room didn’t realize that there is also a cost for upsetting the fanbase.
