I’m all jiggy with the news Yooka-Replaylee is releasing on consoles. The chameleon and bat are getting an updated version of the game originally released in 2017. Though I can’t help but want Rare to take a pagie out of Platonic’s playbook and bring back Banjo-Kazooie too.

An announcement trailer posted to the official Playtonix YouTube shows the upcoming game and my does it look fantastic. The enhanced game is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo platforms in the future. As for when that day is, it’s all a bit mumbo jumbo. No official date was announced.

We do know the new version will include updated visuals, improved gameplay, and new characters. The addition of other NPCs, such as Coinelius, is exciting as it could mean new quests or encounters.

Other add-ons will include a refreshed move set, more fluid controls, and an orchestral soundtrack. Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) returns along with David Wise (Donkey Kong Country). So your ears are in tune for a treat.

Perhaps one of the best enhancements will be the new map and challenge tracker. These additions will make it much simpler to navigate the map and keep an account of what you’ve done and what you need to do.

Here’s hoping we’ll be flying and rolling around as Yooka-Laylee sooner rather than later.
