James Bond fans are already having a pretty good year with the great 007 First Light making its mark a couple of months ago, but come August 11, it looks like that is going to go even a step further. An indie game named Agent 64: Spies Never Die is oozing the GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark nostalgic sauce that Rare made so popular on the Nintendo 64.

Agent 64: Spies Never Die is Made for GoldenEye Fans

As noted, Agent 64: Spies Never Die is set to release on August 11 on PC. It will also be coming to consoles in the future, though details on that are “classified” at the moment.

From the look of its release date trailer above, Agent 64 is a straight-up love letter to GoldenEye 007, mimicking its graphical art style, music, and even incorporating the classic game’s mission objective system, which will have various things you need to do depending on the difficulty to have the opportunity to finish the level. The game will also be playable in local or online multiplayer for both the story and competitive modes that look to feature many of the kinds of gadgets and “Slappers Only” fun you might expect.

Probably the most impressive thing about this game is that all of this is made by a solo developer who goes by Replicant D6. Here’s what they say about Agent 64:

Rare’s classic shooters were my favorite games as a child, and there’s so much fun from the N64 era that feels totally forgotten today. Agent 64 takes all of the adrenaline-fueled memorable moments from the classics, trims out the limitations, and adds in my inspirations from modern action film classics like John Wick. Gamers who played Rare’s beloved titles will feel immediately at home, and those who haven’t will discover a new love for a benchmark era of gaming they missed out on.

Additionally, with Agent 64 being such a throwback to the 90s, there will be more than 70 different modifiers and cheats that you will be able to use in custom lobbies for even more fun, like big head mode, slow bullet speeds, and more.
