Studio Wildcard just launched one of the largest content updates in ARK: Survival Ascended’s history with three major additions. Starting today, players will have access to the free Genesis Ascended Part 1 remaster, the Tides of Fortune DLC, which will introduce ARK’s biggest naval gameplay systems yet, and the surprise debut of ARK: Dragontopia, an all-new dragon-focused adventure.

A Story Retold

The Genesis Ascended Part 1 expansion is free to all players and completely reimagines this original story DLC. Players will be able to explore a massive ocean biome powered by ARK’s first-ever physics-driven water system. While on the open seas, players will encounter a wide range of obstacles such as dynamic waves, realistic buoyancy, chaotic ocean warfare, and the colossal Plaeoctupus.

Launching alongside Genesis Ascended Part 1 is the Tides of Fortune expansion. This premium DLC transforms the ARK universe into a naval battlefield. It also grants players the ability to construct and customize seaworthy ships, command fleets in large-scale combat, hunt for buried treasure, and experience all-new cinematic story moments featuring Karl Urban as Bob and Auli’i Cravalho as Meeka.

While on your ship, it is very important to have a quality crew about you, and within the Tides of Fortune DLC, players can tame new creatures such as the Tidepup and Parrots. The Tidepup is just as adorable as it is invaluable, as it starts in its early days as a shoulder pet that dispels any negative effects. As it grows older, it turns into a rideable mount that specializes in support and protection. The parrot, on the other hand, is more than just a feathered friend. This tame can track valuable resources such as cave crates, alpha creatures, and enemy ships.

Dragontopia was the surprise drop that no one saw coming, and it introduces a wide range of new mounts and adventures for players to partake in. To survive in this high-altitude frontier, players will need to grow through their dragon skill trees, which is a new progression system specifically built around strengthening their bond with these mythical beasts.

The crown jewel of this expansion is the Eclipsar Umbra, the legendary obsidian terron born that lays claim to the night sky. Bound to your will through the mythic dragon horn, this shadow-forged executioner strikes with terrifying yet unpredictable speed. Players will also have the ability to rain precision plasma on their enemies from the skies and slip through the void to ambush unsuspecting prey.

On your adventures, you will have the ability to craft highly specialized gear, wield potent tools, and expand your base with draconic tilesets, incubator backpacks, and mysterious potion stations. Players who purchase this expansion will receive included content updates in late July, October, and December, culminating when a boundless, skyworld map drops.

A Brand New Adventure

Players who are looking to jump into a brand-new adventure can download Genesis Ascended Part 1 on all platforms. The Tides of Fortune and Dragontopia premium expansions are also available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Steam PC.
