Final Fantasy games typically have a good number of playable characters. Most of the games will allow you to control an entire party of characters — each with their own special abilities and attacks. Even in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you could play with up to three characters in your party at one time.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the sequel to the remake, will be coming out in early 2024. There are many questions surrounding the game but one of the most popular is what characters will be playable. After looking over the trailers, here are all the confirmed playable characters in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
What characters are playable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
In Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you could play as Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith. During different parts of the game, you would have different party configurations. There was even a part where Red XIII joined you despite not being playable.
There have been a few trailers for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. In the trailers, you can see that the following characters will be playable:
- Cloud
- Aerith
- Tifa
- Barret
- Red XIII
- Yuffie
That is a good jump from the four that were playable in Remake and the two that were playable in the Intergrade DLC. There is currently no information if there will be more playable characters such as Sonon who accompanies Yuffie during Intergrade, though it wouldn’t be surprising if he makes an appearance.
The gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth revealed all of the playable characters listed above but there could possibly be more depending on how the story plays out. There seems to be a focus on the alternate timeline where Zack lives. This could potentially make him a playable character as well in a separate timeline from the main story. Cid is also likely to show up, but Vincent, who was originally an optional character, is up in the air.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is confirmed to release in early 2024. As it gets closer to the release date, we will update the characters that are revealed to be playable.
