Do you want to play fetch with the best boy in the Realms? Scratch is such a faithful companion and will hang around your camp if you manage to find him and bring him back. You can strike up the occasional conversation with Scratch and even give the good boy a few pets to keep him happy.
The game doesn’t tell you this directly, but you can play fetch with Scratch if you play your cards right. Doing so will earn you the Fetch Quest achievement which is obtained by playing fetch with the “best boy in the Realms.” This guide will show you how to play fetch with Scratch in Baldur’s Gate 3 and earn yourself the Fetch quest achievement.
How to get the Fetch Quest achievement in Baldur’s Gate 3
If you want to play fetch with Scratch, you will first need to unlock him. This is done by finding him along the Risen Road near the Blighted Village. Once he has returned to your camp, you still won’t be able to play with him. Instead, you will only be allowed to talk to him if you have the Speak with Animals spell or pet him.
Keep returning to your camp and rest until Scratch has an exclamation point above his head. Speak with Scratch and he will have a ball in his mouth. Take the ball from him and it will be added to your inventory.
Go into your inventory and you will see the ball as an item. Right Click on the ball to bring up the interaction menu. After that, select the throw option. You will now be able to select where you want to throw the ball.
Throw the ball wherever you want. Scratch will then run to it, pick it up, and return it to you. You can now select it from your inventory again and keep throwing it. Scratch will return the ball each time. You will also get the Fetch quest achievement. Remember, Scratch won’t pick up any other item besides the ball.
