When you think of all the multiplayer game features out there, voice chat is up there with some the most standard. If there is a game that you play with others, especially on a team, you expect a way to communicate over voice chat. Of course, these chat channels get toxic often, but it is good to have the option there. When you jump into Payday 3 for the first time, you might notice the game is pretty quiet with your teammates. Does Payday 3 have voice chat?
Can you turn on voice chat in Payday 3?
Oddly enough, Payday 3 does not have built-in voice chat at launch. Even though the game is fully focused on cooperative play as you pull off heists, you can only talk with others through an external app like Discord or PSN and Xbox Live parties. If you want to communicate with your teammates who aren’t in a call, your best bet is to use the game’s ping system.
The only guess we have as to why there is no in-game voice chat in Payday 3 is the developers had some issues getting it to work properly alongside the game’s new crossplay functionality. That is pure speculation, but it is the only guess we can come up with. Payday 2 came out a decade ago and had voice chat, like most online multiplayer games released since the mid-2000s.
From what we have seen, there is no explanation for the lack of voice chat and whether or not it will ever be added. We would bet that it is being worked on and will be patched in at some point, but it’s very weird for the developers never to mention it. It obviously wasn’t necessary for them before the game launched, but a little communication goes a long way in keeping your community happy. Hopefully, it will come in the future.
