Fast travel is a fairly common mechanic in games nowadays which is why it is no surprise to see it in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Throughout the game, you will visit various regions of the world but may want to backtrack from time to time. You can even teleport to other regions if you have a means of transport. Because of this, you should know how to fast travel in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Of course, one of your main means of transportation will be your ability to ride a Chocobo. When your Chocobo just isn’t quick enough to get you to the other side of the map, fast travel is there to save the day. This guide will show you how to fast travel in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
How to fast travel in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
The normal means of fast travel across the same region requires you to find Points of Interest or POI. Each POI on the map that you find is another spot that you can travel to. After accessing one of these areas, open your map using the touchpad. Once this is down, highlight the point of interest and press the X button to travel there. If you have your Chocobo unlocked, you will be asked if you want to walk or ride your Chocobo to the destination. Not all destinations will ask you this. Some will only have the option to walk.
One specific point of interest, the Chocobo Stops, requires you to repair them before they can be used as a travel point. To fix a Chocobo Stop, simply walk up to it and hold the triangle button next to the fallen sign. This will make you lift the sign and activate the stop. There is also a baby Chocobo in these locations that you might be able to pet.
How to travel between regions in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Traveling between regions is different. To do this, you must speak to a specific NPC in each region to travel to a different one. The following NPCs can be used to travel between regions:
- Grasslands – Hand Hand at Bill’s Ranch
- Junon – Ranch Hand at Gabe’s Ranch
- Under Junon – Ferry Attendant at the dock
- Costa Del Sol – Ferry Attendant at the dock
- Corel – Call Cid by using the phone at the airstrip
- Gongaga – Call Cid by using the phone at the airstrip
- Cosmo Canyon – Call Cid by using the phone at the airstrip
- Nibel – Call Cid by using the phone at the airstrip
Cid becomes available after you meet him during Chapter 9. During this time, you will need to pay a small fee to have Cid transport you between regions. Between Chapters 9 and 12, the Tiny Bronco will suffer some damage and become water-bound. Thankfully, it works just as well as a boat as it had as an airplane. When this happens, you will gain the ability to travel between regions using the map menu. The fee that you had to pay Cid will also disappear.
