The good news is that yes, you can pet the baby Chocobos in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. To do this, you first need to find a Chocobo Stop. These are sprinkled around the map in each region and are primarily used for rest and fast travel. When you reach one of these stops, hold the triangle button to fix it and raise the sign. After this, you can interact with the baby Chocobo in the area by pressing the triangle button next to it.
After you do this, you will get a short scene showing Cloud (or whoever you are controlling) petting the baby Chocobo. You aren’t limited to only petting this cute creature once either. You can pet the baby Chocobo as many times as you’d like while you are in the area.
As far as we know, this is the only creature you are allowed to pet in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. There is plenty else to discover in the game though.
