When playing Assassin’s Creed games, it’s easy to grow attached to the story and its characters. The heart of the newest AC title — Assassin’s Creed Mirage — is Basim and Nehal, a duo that starts their story on the streets of Baghdad, but then through a series of twists and turns, assist in leading their city to revolution. But who’s the woman behind Nehal? And if you enjoy her acting, where can you find more of her work?
Who is Nehal?
The character of Nehal is voiced by Jan Kamar. She is the friend of Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s protagonist, Basim Ibn Ishaq. Just like him, she is a thief-turned-assassin living in Baghdad. The game portrays her as a stubborn loner, but her one exception is Basim. However, her complicated and mysterious past eventually becomes an integral part of the story.
Unlike other Assassin’s Creed games like Origins or Odyssey, Nehal is not a dual protagonist. She is not a companion hero or a gender choice at the beginning of the game. Basim is always the main character of the story, Nehal simply is a major player in Basim’s journey. So, hopefully, you like Nehal, because she’ll be by your side for much of the game.
What are Jan Kamar’s other acting credits?
While some of her other Assassin’s Creed Mirage costars are well-known actors, this is Jan Kamar’s first breakout role. Before Mirage, Kamar mostly had small TV roles or parts in indie films/shorts. Some of her acting credits include featuring in two episodes of the Indian web series Fittrat and playing a lead role in the indie film Orangutan. Considering her stellar work as Nehal, it wouldn’t be surprising if she gets more voice-acting roles after this game.
