Season one of Marvel Rivals has been going great with many players loving the first two members of the Fantastic Four. All that is left is for players to get their hands on the other two family members; Johnny Storm A.K.A The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm A.K.A The Thing. Between the two of them, players seem to be more interested in The Thing joining Marvel Rivals and it is for one reason – to finally have a character that can counter Wolverine.
While players are looking forward to The Human Torch and The Thing joining the Marvel Rivals roster, the Valentine’s Day event dates have been leaked. Players have also noticed that Marvel Rivals is sitting on a ton of unreleased cosmetics.
The Thing is rumored to be a counter for Wolverine
Previously, The Thing’s abilities were leaked. While his abilities sound great with one being the Thunderbolt Punch and another being a continuous charge that can lift up enemies, the real ability players are interested in is his passive. The Thing’s passive ability is rumored to be called Solid as a Rock. What does this do exactly? Well, it makes The Thing immune to knockback and displacement effects caused by other Marvel Rivals characters. In other words, he won’t be sent flying by Wolverine when the mutant uses his Feral Leap ability.
Many Marvel Rivals players are begging for this leak to be true as it would mean that The Thing could easily counter Wolverine. One user stated, “All I want for the juggernaut is a passive that makes him less vulnerable to moves that would move him. Like invisible woman’s ability, or wolverines leap.” Another user said, “Rumor has it, he has a passive that makes him either resistant or immune to movement displacing effects (such as being knocked back by Invisible Woman), and his ultimate will be a charge-forward ability that leaves a trail of rough terrain.”
Undoubtedly, if The Thing truly does have an ability that can counter characters that can throw you around the battlefield, he will be highly sought after and most likely taken in each match – especially if the other team has a Wolverine.
