A Baldur’s Gate 3 honor mode run was cut short after every ally in camp turned hostile. What caused this unfortunate turn of events? A simple game of fetch that went horribly wrong. For user Renilas on Reddit, honor mode was going well until a mistake at camp caused every single ally to turn hostile. While this may not sound too terrible for those who haven’t played on harder difficult modes, honor mode limits you to a single save file. This can turn one mistake into a tragedy depending on when the last save took place.

Baldur’s Gate 3 honor mode is a challenge that many players have undertaken since it was added during one of the past updates. It massively increases the game’s difficulty and limits your saves to one file. No more save-scumming for you if you are on this mode. Unfortunately for Renilas on Reddit, they found this out the hard way.

Playing fetch with Scratch ended my campaign.

It was a normal day at camp. Renilas and their friends were in Act One and about to do a long rest when someone began playing fetch with Scratch. This simple act quickly took a turn when Renilas grabbed Scratch’s ball. Committing this act turned the entire camp hostile including the Oathbreaker Knight. Sure, most of the characters were underleveled but the Oathbreaker Knight is always level 12.

This simple and innocent act soon brought down the unholy vengeance of the Oathbreaker Knight, defeating Renilas and their friends in a measly four rounds. As they put it in the post, this was “12 levels of PAIN” that came their way. We had no idea that you could even steal Scratch’s ball but let this be a warning for all those on honor mode lest ye want the full force of your well-trained allies to come down on you. Hopefully, their save wasn’t too far back.
