The popular board game Clue could soon return to the screen as Hasbro Entertainment signs a deal with Sony’s TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Television. This deal encompasses both movie and TV rights. In the age where movies like the Avengers, Star Wars, and Sonic the Hedgehog carry on storylines via television series, it’s quite possible we could be getting both.
Following the Clue
This isn’t Clue’s first run on the big screen. In 1985, a comedic movie version of the murder mystery game starred Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, and Madeline Khan. Universal attempted to develop another movie that was never completed. There also used to be a Clue miniseries on a cable network called the Hub in 2011.
Despite challenges Hasbro has faced recently, their Dungeons & Dragons movie Honor Among Thieves was well-received by critics and fans in 2023. This gives them momentum going into new movie deals with other major production companies.
Time will tell if Hasbro’s Clue gets to narratively grace the screen once again, and who the leading performers will be.
