The Disney Dreamlight Valley community is divided when it comes to the expansion pass price. For the past year, Disney Dreamlight Valley has been in early access. Recently, Gameloft shared the unfortunate news that the game would also still be a paid game after the full release coming in December. Many took this news as a sign that the developers would continue to make free DLC for the game, and then reality set in and they realized that the upcoming DLC, A Rift in Time, would be paid DLC.
For the entire year of early access, every DLC has been free. While the base game of Disney Dreamlight Valley was fairly short, numerous updates have brought in additional characters and more story elements. Now, the entire story is finished and ready for more players to experience. So why does the upcoming DLC have fans divided?
What is the expansion pass price for Disney Dreamlight Valley?
The expansion pass for Disney Dreamlight Valley is $29.99. That is on top of the base game and isn’t included no matter what edition you purchase. This includes the Gold Edition which will cost you $69.99.
Not only is the expansion pass $29.99, but it only comes with one DLC called A Rift in Time. Little is known about the DLC but it does include new biomes, new characters, and a brand-new story. Obviously, there is a lot coming in this DLC.
Why is the Disney Dreamlight Valley community divided?
The Disney Dreamlight Valley community is divided thanks to the expansion pass price being $29.99 and that the game will stay a paid release. In a recent X post on the official Disney Dreamlight Valley X (formerly Twitter) page, Gameloft shared an update about the upcoming DLC. Unfortunately, the comments were less than ideal.
Many users commented on the post mentioning that they would not be getting the DLC because of it being paid. Not just that, they complained about the price tag, which is almost the same as buying the base copy of the game a second time. We don’t blame the community for wanting cheaper DLC but there is a reason for it and some fans have backed it up.
While some like user @Aurandratv called the DLC price a joke, others have stated that it is very common for this to happen. This is also only one DLC and there will be more free updates. Gameloft shared on the official website that there will be more free content updates in the future.
What is your take on the DLC price? Would you rather it be free or are you fine with paying a little extra?
