Scams are everywhere nowadays. Just when you turn on your favorite game to try and blow off some steam, bam, another scam. With so many new players joining the veterans in Appalachia, it is easy to fall for one of these trading scams. After a string of kind acts such as donations, team joining, and helpful tips, some veterans are now turning the tables on newbies. Here is your official Fallout 76 PSA to watch out for trading scams.

User theonewhoislostt posted on Reddit about such a scam to watch out for. In this post, they stated that they “spent a lot of money on junk in this dudes vendor.” Afterward, they mentioned that they ‘told them to go back.’ Once the user came back to purchase more items, the veteran shot him and took all of the junk items that were purchased from the vendor. This is a common scam in the wasteland and one that you should always be on the lookout for.

Some responded to the post by giving some words of advice to get revenge or to avoid the scams altogether. One user commented, “Best revenge is when you die don’t respawn let your corpse just lay there, they can’t rebuild the trap eventually they get p***ed off and leave the server.” Another user commented, “This is the sad truth of the surface. Not all whom you meet mean well, friend. It is a learning experience for you, just as it has been for us.”

As a piece of advice for new players, one user stated, “Anytime you vendor hop, equip Light Footed and crouch. Traps can’t get you this way 🙂 (also avoid any chairs merged with walls).” This is great advice for those who have never encountered a trap base before. Others were quick to offer aid to the player saying that they would drop some junk items for them if they were still in need. Remember, always be on the lookout for scams and trap bases.
