While many were hoping for a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo drop during the PlayStation State of Play event on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, it sadly didn’t happen. Square Enix dropped the ball since it was the official anniversary of the original release of Final Fantasy 7. However, some good news did come. Mark your calendars for February 6, 2024, at 3:30 pm PT / 11:30 pm GMT because a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth-focused State of Play is coming.
This news is great, but even better is the high likelihood of a demo drop either during or after this State of Play. While we can’t say for certain that this will happen, it would make sense since the game will be released on February 29, 2024. We aren’t the only ones hoping for this demo release, either, as many fans are begging Square Enix on X to drop the demo.
Square Enix was quick to remind everyone to mark their calendars on the official Final Fantasy VII X Page. The news itself is great but it is clear that fans only have one thing on their minds: the demo.
One user quickly stated, “Yeah that demo definitely dropping…” while another stated, “Demo next Tuesday then.” Many other fans were either asking for the demo to drop now, if the demo dropped during the State of Play, or if there will be a demo. With so much hype around the game, many will be disappointed if they don’t get a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo.
Luckily, there is a high likelihood that we will get our hands on a demo before the release. The reason for the high likelihood is that nearly every mainline Final Fantasy game since the original Final Fantasy 7 has received a demo. Even other Square Enix titles like Forspoken got a demo. If there is anything fans know, it is that Square Enix loves a good demo.
