The latest MO [Major Order] in Helldivers 2 has players completing the task of protecting planets we have previously liberated. As the Terminids and Automatons rise, we must complete defense missions and hold our ground. Unfortunately, even though we have liberated a planet, that doesn’t mean our work is over. It also doesn’t mean we get any helpful bonuses.
In a post by Weliveinas-word on Reddit, they showed an image that reads, “Defense campaigns should give helpful modifiers instead of negative ones. We already have the planet and its defenses should aid the Helldivers, such as free SEAF artillery rounds of AA defense lessening bos dropship quantity.” This comes after a failed attempt to liberate Martale to help the Charon defense mission.
One user commented, “Defense should always be easier than offense, that’s one of the primary rules of warfare.” Another user commented, “Make sense, and having some actual super earth soldiers running around would be much better.” They also called for cities to be added to some planets in the future to mix things up and not have as many barren planets. We have to agree, some city maps would be pretty cool to fight in. After all, the Automatons could build up some pretty futuristic civilizations.
“The problem in my opinion is that defense doesn’t count at all unless we win. We should get back a percentage of our defense as liberation,” one user commented. The idea here is to have some of our efforts matter in the long run. If we have successfully liberated 95% of a planet but fail a defense, we should have a higher percentage of liberation than if we love a planet we had liberated at 40%. There are still many updates to come to Helldivers 2 and the community manager has stated that multiple highly requested features are being worked on.
