The latest Helldivers 2 MO made players choose between two very important objectives. Players could either choose to liberate Marfark to receive the Anti-Tank Mines or liberate Vernen Wells to save the sick kids of Super Citizen Anne’s Hospital. While both options are enticing, many Helldivers went to the aid of the children, choosing to liberate Vernen Wells to save the sick kiddos. This choice has paid off in a big way because Arrowhead decided to literally “Save the Children” thanks to the efforts of the Helldivers – a sweet gesture that surely won’t go unnoticed.
Earlier today, CCO of Arrowhead Johan Pilestedt, sent out a post on his X account that reads, “Since the Helldivers 2 community chose to save the children, Arrowhead Game Studios does the same. We have made a donation to, well, Save The Children.” This was followed by a link to the official Save the Children website if any members of the community would like to help out the kids even more.
Save the Children is an organization that is over 100 years old started by Eglantyne Jebb after they “saw children dying of starvation and wracked with disease after the end of the First World War.” Today, the organization offers health, education, protection, and emergency response to children in need all over the world. Thanks to our work on liberating the survivors from the Automatons of Vernen Wells, more children can rest easy in the world.
In response to the post, many celebrated the victory on Vernen Wells. One user said, “Okay now this, this is the good s*** I love to see & want to see more.” Another user said, “Supporting future Helldivers in the quest for future Democracy! What a great community.” The Helldivers 2 community has been great to one another and now their exploits are starting to affect the real world. Good job, community! We would say you deserve rest but managed democracy waits for no person, bug, or bot.
