In celebration of Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th anniversary, Magic: The Gathering is hosting a special event at select U.S. and Canada game stores across May 17 – 19. It’s called the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate Draft event, and it boasts a special dungeon card used for this event only.
The Baldur’s Gate Wilderness dungeon card will be an oversized card used at each gaming table. For those unfamiliar, dungeon cards allow players to venture into different rooms of the dungeon when prompted by a card they play. Each room gives different benefits, and they get stronger and stronger the deeper you venture in. The Baldur’s Gate Wilderness dungeon offers rooms like Auntie’s Teahouse where you can Scry 3. Or the Gauntlet of Shar where each opponent loses five life.
You will not bring your own personal decks to this special event. Participating players will get a Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate Collector Booster pack to start their decks. Then the Commander draft starts. The table opens up three draft booster packs one at a time. Each player can select two cards every time the pack is passed around. After the cards are divided, players can create their 60-card decks and play in four-player pods.
This event is a very fun way by Magic: The Gathering to celebrate D&D’s 50th anniversary by drawing upon the love for the Baldur’s Gate 3 video game.
