Season 12 of Overwatch 2 begins next Tuesday, August 20, and brings with it a bunch of new things. Headlining the update will be the full-time addition of Juno, the newest Support in the game. She originates from Mars, and may be the daughter of one of Mei’s best friends from school. This time, the season theme is Ancient Egyptian, headlined by a new mythic Reaper skin as Anubis and a Midnight Sun weapon skin for Ana.
Clash, the newest tug-of-war game mode will also be added to the game at the start of the season. It comes with two maps which are both reworked concepts from past Assault maps. Hanaoka takes place near Hanamura and was tested earlier this year. The second map is Throne of Anubis, which lets us go inside the Temple of Anubis map. We’ve been teased a few times of this since Venture’s addition to the game, so it’s nice to finally be able to battle in front of the dangerous AI.
More Overwatch 2 Season 12 changes
In the competitive scene, ranks are being reset again this season. That last happened in the early parts of 2024. Avoid as Teammate will have some changes we don’t know about yet and Group Respawn, which was a part of a previous Hacked test session, will be implemented. These two changes will be outlined in a blog from system designer Gavin Winter this Friday.
Overwatch 2 Season 12 will bring balance updates to Lifeweaver and mobile heroes will have their health adjusted. Those changes will be shown in the upcoming patch notes next week.
Rounding out the news, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will now get various rewards by connecting their Battle.net account to an active Game Pass subscription. The first set of rewards will be 30 mythic prisms and six legendary skins that previously were in the shop.
