Spider-Man 2 is officially celebrating having sold over 2.5 million copies in just 24 hours after the launch of the game. That is very impressive considering most games have a hard time cracking that first million.
This achievement shouldn’t be taken lightly as it stands as a record-breaker for Sony. As indicated by the Twitter post from PlayStation, this is the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in PlayStation history, beating previous games like the original Spider-Man, God of War Ragnarok, and even The Last of Us.
Many have praised the new Spider-Man game as being the best superhero game of all time. Sites like IGN gave the game an 8/10 while others gave it a perfect score of 10/10. Even the audience score on Google is sitting at a comfortable 4.4/5. Rarely does a game do so well across the board. We have to say, it isn’t surprising given how popular the Spider-Man character has become, both as Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Of course, with the game selling more than 2.5 million copies, there begs the question, “When will it come to PC?” After all, the first two games in the series both got PC ports so it would be nice to bring the second game over to the platform for more players to enjoy.
There were many who believed that the game being a PS5 exclusive would hinder its sales performance. Clearly, that was not the case considering the large number of Spider-Man 2 copies sold. There will most likely be another Spider-Man game in the future. When that happens, perhaps Peter Parker will finally be able to quit his day job and coast off his video game royalties, though that may be a topic for another day. For now, he will forever go down in the hall of PlayStation fame alongside Miles Morales.
