The Game Awards are just around the corner, so of course, a batch of rumors are spreading around the internet for what could be revealed at the show. According to Dealabs Magazine, one of the upcoming trailers you should expect to see is a new game called Split Fiction, coming from Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios, the makers of 2021 Game Awards Game of the Year winner It Takes Two and A Way Out. According to them, it will be released on March 6, 2025.

Of course, with any other rumor on the internet, you should take the legitimacy of Split Fiction with a grain of salt, but the potential for this to be real is looking pretty good. For starters, Josef Fares tweeted back in October a hint that the title of the game was “S**** ******N.” Additionally, we know Fares likes to appear at the award show, not only winning the most coveted award in 2021 but being well known for his “F*ck the Oscars!” moment from the 2017 show. Fares also posted a photo with Geoff Keighley, implying the announcement back in June.

If we are to go forward believing the Split Fiction title, you can likely expect another splitscreen cooperative game similar to It Takes Two and A Way Out. Even if you are playing online with someone, you will see everything your partner is doing on splitscreen. We are very happy with that, as that has proven to be a great formula for Hazelight to follow. Not only is it unique to their style of development, but they are one of the very few developers pushing cooperative play these days. We are also glad to see them spread out to another original story rather than doing another It Takes Two.

The good thing about this rumor is we only have to wait a few more days to see if it is true. The Game Awards airs this coming Thursday and will undoubtedly be a couple of hours filled with all kinds of trailers and meme-worthy moments.
