Every faction in XDefiant has special abilities that you can utilize to gain an advantage during the fight. This makes the combat of XDefiant interesting and makes each faction feel unique as you play. Now that you have had time to understand each of the current factions’ abilities, what about the next faction? The next faction in XDefiant should be the Assassins. After all, Assassin’s Creed is one of Ubisoft’s most profitable franchises. We would be surprised if Ubisoft didn’t bring in the Hidden Ones next.
With all this being said, when Ubisoft does decide to bring in the assassins, we want them to have some pretty amazing abilities that rival the other factions in a fair way. Don’t worry, we won’t make them overpowered like Echelon with the Intel Suit ability. Here are what abilities we think the Assassin’s faction should have in XDefiant.
XDefiant Assassin faction abilities
The Hidden Ones in Assassin’s Creed are known for staying out of sight, blending into the environment, and taking out their foes without being noticed. Those who are, know how to defend themselves. The abilities that we chose play into the idea of staying hidden during the game but don’t go so far as to turn you invisible (at least not for the normal abilities). Here is what we would like to see:
- Assassin’s Blade (Ability): Throw out a knife that instantly kills the target that is struck by it.
- Smokescreen (Ability): Release a smokescreen in a 15m radius around your character that blocks line-of-sight. You can see through the smokescreen while others cannot (including teammates).
- Deadly Silent (Passive): You are silent as the night. Your footsteps, guns, and abilities generate no noise.
- Hidden Blade (Ultra/Ultimate): Become invisible and wield your hidden blade. While the ability is active, you cannot be seen, the hidden blade instantly kills opponents, and attacking does not make you visible.
The XDefiant Assassin faction should be deadly at short range but also have abilities that help during a gunfight. Having the throwing knife allows the assassins to silently take out a foe if they manage to get a hit. Think of it as the throwing knife in Call of Duty. Having the smokescreen will help the assassins stay out of sight while also allowing them to get kills. While this is a good cover, this doesn’t prevent the assassins from getting damaged as enough gunfire into the smokescreen is bound to hit them at some point.
The passive ability plays into an assassin’s ability to stay silent. Silencing all noise the assassin makes will help them stay hidden and make it more difficult for enemies to detect them. Even reducing the sound generated would be a good bonus as it would give opponents less time to react. Finally, the ultimate ability takes the hidden blade from the game and puts it front and center. Granting the assassins invisibility while wielding the blade will ensure they have an easier time getting kills. However, this invisibility will not be perfect and players will be able to spot assassins who move too quickly.
