Overwatch 2 has dropped the latest trailer and blog for the upcoming Season 18, and while there looks to be a lot of good stuff packed in, as is usual with season trailers in recent seasons, the game is teasing an upcoming collaboration. This time around, Overwatch 2 is getting a Persona 5 collab, with the trailer showing a character in Joker’s guise.

Persona 5 Coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 18

As of this writing, we don’t exactly know which hero will be getting a Joker skin, and what other characters on the roster will be taking on Phantom Thieves roles. The image seen in the trailer is hard to make out because the character’s face is blacked out. Our early guess at the moment is Cassidy, but he is getting a mythic weapon this season and the Cowboy Bebop collab that features him is also returning, so that might be a way to point away from him. Having not played much of Persona 5 myself, guessing who fits best is a bit tough, with my second-best guess being a young Soldier 76, but I’m not even going to attempt the rest of the crew.

What Else is in Season 18?

Outside of the Persona 5 collaboration, Overwatch 2 is adding its newest support hero Wuyang (who you can learn more about in our interview here), and the latest rank reset is happening, with a bonus “soft” MMR reset, so your early games may feel a little different than recent matches. More than 50 new perks are being added to the lineup, with every hero getting at least one replacing an older perk.

As mentioned above, Cassidy is getting this season’s mythic weapon skin called Blazing Sunsetter, which looks rather badass. It comes with the usual cosmetic upgrades you can expect from mythic weapons. As revealed weeks ago, Sojourn is getting the character mythic skin in Ultraviolet Sentinel.

As for Stadium, Winston, Brigitte, and Pharah are joining the mode at the start of this season, with Tracer zipping in at the midseason patch. Crossplay support and a bunch of other promised features for Stadium are being added as well, but the thing that has our attention most is the new Payload Race mode added to the mix. Both teams will have payloads they are trying to push to the end at the same time, which will be a new chaotic addition to the game.

Finishing things up, there are a few neat additions in the menus in Overwatch 2 Season 18. Competitive players will get hero skill ratings for each individual hero after five placement matches, so you will have more information about how you are performing with each of your picks. Hero progression is also being revamped, with loot box and border rewards for your most played heroes. Finally, an advanced info panel has been added that details your heroes abilities much more. A hero stats webpage is currently in the works, so Blizzard is giving players a lot more information about your work with your favorite characters.
