Xbox and Asus Delay ROG Ally Price Reveal Due to “Macroeconomic Conditions”

The release date for the Asus ROG Xbox Ally has been confirmed for October 16, 2025, which is just two months away for those keeping track. This was confirmed during the official Gamescom stream, but while we know one large piece of information about the upcoming handheld system, we still don’t know another major piece of the puzzle: the price. You might be wondering why we don’t know such a crucial piece of information about the upcoming system. Well, the answer, according to Xbox, is “macroeconomic conditions.” An answer that harkens back to the days before the release of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Xbox and Asus Delay ROG Ally Price Announcement

One of the biggest things that players want to know about the upcoming Asus ROG Xbox Ally is the price. After all, with the console being released around the same time as heavy-hitting games such as Pokémon Legends Z-A, Ghost of Yotei, and Battlefield 6, players need to determine whether they should set the money aside for the console or wait for a sale a year from now.

Rather than announcing the price alongside the release date for October 16, 2025, Xbox and Asus decided to hold off, citing “macroeconomic conditions” as the reason. Microsoft went on to say that it would announce more details in “the coming weeks.”

As reported by Jon Clarke from XboxEra, “The original plan was indeed to reveal both the release date and pricing, including how and when pre-orders would go live. Instead, it seems both ASUS and Microsoft are working to further subsidize the handheld devices, in an effort to perhaps improve the pricing in the eyes of consumers.”

Recent pricing leaks for the upcoming handheld have said that it could be sold for upwards of $1,000, making it the most expensive handheld gaming system on the market. It is no wonder Microsoft is hesitant about revealing the price.
