In a surprise announcement from Hi-Rez Studios, Paladins is no longer supported on the Nintendo Switch. After several issues with how the game performed on the system, and a hectic time with getting the Payload match type to work properly, the team decided to pull the plug. In doing so, however, this allows a shift in focus on other platforms to ensure players get the best gameplay possible for the first-person shooter.

The news comes directly from the official Paladins website where, along with the announcement of ending support for the game on Switch, Paladins was removed from the store altogether. The decision to stop supporting the Nintendo Switch version was not made hastily. Rather, the team noticed the game was not running as efficiently as it was on other consoles.

Problems first started showing up during the launch of the Season 6 Emergence update. With the addition came several crashes related to the Payload game mode resulting in two maps being temporarily removed to fix the problem. After much consideration, shutting down support for Paladins on the handheld device was made.

Midnight Masquerade will be the final major update Nintendo Switch players will receive for Paladins.

The good news is that players will not lose any progress if they decided to continue playing on another platform. Those who played the game primarily on the Switch can link their accounts to continue with all of the progression they made. Until then, Hi-Rez will fully end working on the Switch version in June.

That being said, the team says development and updates will continue for the Xbox, PlayStation, and PC versions of Paladins.
